this cliche is here to stay!

and now, we get down to it.

remember when you were in elementary school and adults tried to convince you that if someone of the opposite sex was being mean to you, that it should be overlooked because that just meant he or she liked you a whole lot?

now hold on Cindy Cynical-Pants! that may have sounded like some old blame shifting, DV-grooming, bullshit at the time but here's something to consider that puts it all in perspective:

over on Free Republic, the birthers are talking about how they wanna check out the President's penis!

hoosiermama:
The only other thing that hit me was that Sinclair said BO was not circumcised. When my son was born in a hospital that was done as a matter of routine without even consulting us. Would the same be for Hawaii? OTOH People born at home or in some other cultures are not circumcised.

thecodont:
A relative of mine was born (in a hospital) a couple of years after BO's alleged birth date. He was circumcised also (as a matter of routine, not according to any family request).

afraidfortherepublic:
My son was born in June of 1961 in a hospital in CA, and the nurses released us because of miscommunication in a day and a half before the circumcision was done. We had to go back to the doctor’s office to have it done a week later, and the doctor was NOT HAPPY. My second son was born in the same hospital 4 years later. I don’t remember them asking me about it. Routine procedure for little boys.

hoosiermama:
Wish we had someone to make a phone call to the hospitols in HI and ask if they routinely do circumcism and when that practice started.

MHGinTN:
You might want to make that call to a Canadian hospital ...

MHGinTN:
No...it would have been in Kenya....not Canada.

Natural Born 54
I am having a vision of a court room scene. The judge turns to O sitting in the witness chair to his left and says “I am sorry, Mr. President, but I am going to have to ask you to stand and drop trou .....”

how porntastic is THAT? you can almost hear Natural Born 54's heavy breathing as he typed about his vision of seing Obama naked from the waist down.

actually, it kind of reminds me of something...

i cannot believe it's finally come to this, something i've often heard talked about within the black community but never actually seen outside of it. do the birthers really see nothing freakishly familiar about their belief that they have a right to see the President's sex organs???

i don't know about you, but this post-racial america is killing me on the inside.

A Pimp Called Govnah Sanford

i told my boss a few weeks ago, i said "boss! boss man! i need to take the week off with pay because i need to take my snuggle honey bunny outta town for some across state lines nookie, ya know what i'm saying!" and my boss said "bitch! you are not on break, so stop talking to me! now get back to work!"

true story.

which is why i gotta get a job like Mark Muthafuckin Sanford!!

bailamos, let the rhythm take you over, bailamosssssss.....

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford has canceled his schedule this week to take a personal trip with his wife, three weeks after announcing his affair with an Argentine woman.
Spokesman Joel Sawyer said Wednesday the governor would be taking off the rest of this week for a
trip out of state with first lady Jenny Sanford.
The Sanfords spent the July Fourth weekend in
Florida, where Jenny Sanford's parents live. The governor and first lady were married in Florida 20 years ago. They have said they are trying to reconcile.
Sanford left the state June 18, returning six days later. He admitted to an extramarital affair with a woman he called his "soul mate" and said he misled his staff into thinking he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Sawyer says state meetings Sanford had scheduled this week have been postponed until next week.

he is so fortunate that the business of running a state hasn't gotten in the way AT ALL with his and his wife's and his soul-mate's love lives.

but i think we can all agree, the voters (yes, all 19 of them) of South Carolina are the luckiest of all!

can't a governor go shake his nuts outta trees in peace?

ok, let's recap for those of you keeping track.

THINGS THAT SOUTH CAROLINA HATES:

- federal cash

- schools with proper sewage systems

- black bike week*

- gorillas

- non-black people having suspiciously black relatives

- Scooby Absconding

- underwear?

Sanford disappears to hike Appalachian Trail (on Naked Hiking Day)

We’re not suggesting that the formerly missing Governor of South Carolina specifically ditched his family and security detail to go hiking on Naked Hiking Day. It’s just that one of the days he hit the trail also happened to be the aforementioned holiday. [Editor’s note: This paragraph was changed to make clear that the governor’s timing was a coincidence.]

Until late yesterday, no one would say publicly where he was. Poof. He just disappeared.
The story started to resemble a John Grisham novel. A southern conservative governor and very vocal critic of a popular liberal president eluded his security detail and completely disappeared with his last known whereabouts — before he (or someone) turned off his cell phones — somewhere outside of Atlanta.

Staff was silent. Some were talking about succession plans. The First Lady though said she wasn’t concerned. “He was writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids,” she said.

But many wondered aloud how this traditional, family-loving, Republican governor of a southern state could miss Fathers Day. After all he’s got four children! Was something sinister in the air?

Then it took a Farrelly brothers screenplay type of twist. Sanford had not disappeared. According to his spokesman, he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Coincidentally, on Naked Hiking Day.

It’s a big tradition. Many hikers celebrate the summer solstice by hiking au naturel. It just so happened the solstice occurred on Fathers Day — one of the days Sanford was hiking.

and there you have it. while the rest of the state was running on auto-pilot, Governor Sanford (allegedly) packed his bags and went to go let his bags swing on the appalachian trail.

i'm betting that Us Weekly is going to print an exclusive interview next week with the woman who's been meeting Sanford for the last few years at this event and thought his name was Guillermo.

on an unfortunate aside, i'm beginning to see a disturbing trend in the things SC hates....

nonetheless! never change, South Carolina (as if you would, right?).

*incidentally, i TOTALLY agree with the black bike week hatred.

What's WRONG with these People?? [office of the department of redundancy]

boy, boy, boy, BOY! it just keeps getting better and better with South Carolina. Little, backwards, broke-ass, dreadlock and gorilla hating South Carolina.

now, this interesting little tid-bit! you know how lots and lots of people have been wishing Mark Sanford would just disappear.

WELL, HE DONE GONE AND DONE IT, YA'LL!!!!

(AP) Where is South Carolina's governor?

Gov. Mark Sanford's wife said Monday she did not know the location of the two-term Republican chief executive. Sanford's staff declined to disclose where he was.

First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn't know where. She said she was not concerned. Jenny Sanford said the governor said he needed time away from their children to write something.

Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer declined to discuss where the governor was. Sawyer told The Associated Press that Sanford was taking time to "recharge" after his failed fight against federal stimulus money.

Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer said he didn't know where Sanford is but said he had not been put in charge.

what, is he on FMLA or something? how does he just split from his job, not put the lt. gov in charge, and fail to mention to his wife where he went?

it's getting awfully peculiar a little ways down the interstate....stay tuned.

What's WRONG with these People??

a south carolina gop "activist"...that's what we call them nowadays?.....discovered what what numerous 20-something-year-old entry level employees across the country discovered last year:
when you show your ass on facebook, everybody looks!

that genius right there is rusty depass. he used to be a south carolina poleetishun. now he's a facebook comedian. of course, this type of comedy leaves me cold. maybe i'm too uptight?
anyhoo, there is a bright side to all of this: at least he's old.

What's WRONG with these People??

as you have probably heard, the prez and the missus had another fantastic date night, taking in a show in NYC. here i was thinking it was a nice, romantic moment shared by two people clearly in love...well, thank the LERD for Rick Santorum, who let me know it not only served as an example but...kinda....overshot the mark?

Take it Rick!

Number one, I think it's great that the president has a date night with his wife. He's a role model. He's a role model in particular, whether he likes it or not, in the African-American community.

right on, right on...

Here we have a president of the United States who says that marriage is cool. You have respect for your wife, and you treat her with the respect and dignity that she deserves. And she is part of this team. And it's not just part of professional team, but it's also part of a personal, romantic team. I think that's all great. So I think it's important that he keeps having his date night.

yes, that is great. especially since we've never had a married president before. wait...wait, we have, but black people haven't been influenced by the marriages of white people. we only respond when we see other black people doing something. kinda like running away from a club shooting.

wait, what?

I think he has to realize that flying to New York is self-indulgent. Go down to the corner bar and have a drink, a shot and a beer. It does not matter where you go with your wife, is that it's with your wife. That's really the point... I would make the argument, the simpler the date, the more normal it is.

...did this dude just suggest that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES should take THE FIRST LADY to a bar and just have a drink? why in the world would the man holding the most important office in our country do that, Rick?

It connects to people. Here is what you do. Here is how you do it. And it is not going to Broadway. All right, once in awhile, you do something special. But it is mundane that really makes the marriage special, but because you are with your wife the mundane isn't mundane. It's special.

so, by saying connects with people, he means black people. because black people don't go to new york and they don't go to broadway plays. and a black woman is not going to think it very special to fly her to another city and treat her to a broadway show! nah, nah, naaaaaaaah....here's what you do....here's how you do it: take her to Smitty's for a couple shots of aristocrat, then head on back to the criz-zib, play some big daddy kane, and work it OUT.

huh.

you know i just cannot take it. i cannot even begin to climb that mountain that this man has laid out in front of me. i can only say a few things before i completely degrade and start screaming at my computer:

1) rick santorum is no expert on marriage and no one asked his advice. so what's with the paternalistic, condescending attitude? why does this guy, who's about the same age as Obama, and who lost his re-election bid think he can tell the President how to date his wife?

2) by suggesting the president merely go to a bar for some shots instead of taking his wife to nyc to broadway is absurd. and i know he isn're really going to go there with something being "self-indulgent" when Dubya used Air Force One regularly to travel to and from his private ranch in Crawford, TX. do you now how much it costs to use Air Force One per hour? over $50,000. it's a 2 hour flight from DC. and he visited Crawford 77 times during his administration. do the math.

3) this script follows all too closely to what many people of color have experienced in this society by our paler, well-meaning neighbors. it's patronizing, infuriating, and biased thinking based on racist notions of the black community.

4) with regards to the usual complaints at this junction of any race conversation of someone "always playing the race card" i have this to say: if you don't want me to play the race card, quit dealing from that particular deck.

next they'll say she was behind the Atlanta Child Murders

ok, so just so i'm following: first the MSM gave a platform so the right can say Sotomayor is racist. now the MSM are asking if her choice is due to her ethnicity?

man, it's hard out here for a G.

What's WRONG with these People??

there's something i cannot quite figure out. i can't seem to get a bead on why some people prefer to jump and flinch at shadows instead of tackling the real monsters under the bed...on on the bed, hiding in the sheets.

can anyone help me figure out why someone would rather talk crackheadedly about a service organization instead of talking about the hate group they're being compared to....TOM TANCREDO!

TANCREDO: If you belong to an organization called La Raza, in this case, which is, from my point of view anyway, nothing more than a Latino — it’s a counterpart — a Latino KKK without the hoods or the nooses. If you belong to something like that in a way that’s going to convince me and a lot of other people that it’s got nothing to do with race. Even though the logo of La Raza is “All for the race. Nothing for the rest.” What does that tell you?

SANCHEZ: Alright. We’re not talking about — we’re not talking about La Raza

TANCREDO: She’s a member! She’s a member of La Raza!

now, unless tancredo is delusional, he knows very well that what he is saying is false, inflammatory, and potentially dangerous. i mean, perhaps he really thinks that an organization who's purpose is to support civil rights and improve opportunities for Hispanics is the same as a group who's purpose is to eradicate all races that are not white....you know, without the hoods and ropes and murder and all.

?

some bloggers have pointed out that this type of rhetoric from the right is called blowing the dog-whistle. these types of words affect those of us with all of our marbles a certain way. it's a whole over story with some among us who have lost most of our marbles. those a little less marbled get a whole other meaning from the words, ya dig?

here's what would be great. it would be great if the republicans stopped embarrassing themselves by calling this woman "racist" when so many among their own ranks have done and said racist things repeatedly. and it would be great if, since they seem to be so concerned with racism, that they use they outrage for actual hate-groups that are commiting horrible acts of violence and intimidation in this country.

but i imagine that right around the time that happens, a unicorn with rainbow hair and a nose ring will come to my house Saturday morning and play a rousing game of crazy 8s with me.

What's WRONG with these People??

you know what i hate? i hate it when you find out about a terrible deed committed by another person, tell someone else, and then realize that makes YOU the horrible person. you know, like when you find out your neighbor has been beating his child with his dog, and you call the proper authorities, and then someone stands on your lawn screaming that you must really really hate dogs and kids, otherwise why did you tell! hater!

what's that? you say that makes no sense? weeeeeeeeeeeeelll, it does if you're MARY CHENEY!

In an interview on Fox News, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney sharply criticized the new administration for agreeing to release photographs depicting alleged abuses at U.S. prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration.

"I think it is really appalling that the administration is taking this step," she said in the interview. "Clearly what they are doing is releasing images that show American military men and woman in a very negative light."

"I have heard from families of service members from families of 9/11 victims this question about when did it become so fashionable for us to side, really, with the terrorists," she continued.
(CNN)

mary cheney believes that by releasing photos of abuses by the US, the current administration is siding with terrorists. because that's showing the world that we...like to torture people...too?

is it siding with terrorists because it's showing a sense of simpatico because the methods of torture are so similar?

or is it just siding with torture because it is once again highlighting what it is about the administration of Dubya and Satan that makes people try to throw shoes at them during press conferences?

i think i see what side of the street mary's standing on. but can someone tell her that the rhetoric she's using is so dated, it's laughable? mary, really? "siding with terrorist," for real??

you know all is lost when you get chopped by Fergie:

i'm so 3000 and 8/
you're so 2000 and late.

What's WRONG with these People??

i'm beginning to think that perhaps, as part of their vast right-wing conspiracy, republicans have decided to just talk as crazy as possible, in a sense creating their own language. that way they can communication with one another without any of the other dangerous unamericans finding out what they're talking about.

today's installment comes from South Carolina Representative Jim DeMint!!!!

via Crooks and Liars:

CNN's Rick Sanchez played a portion of Arlen Specter's press conference to South Carolina's Jim DeMint and asked him if Republicans are weeding out the moderates from the party -- and isn't that a bad thing?

Sanchez: Republicans are making it very difficult for other Republicans because, and he said this on several times, you tell me what you think of it. You're shrinking the electorate to an extreme, to a point that a regular republican can't win. What do you make of that argument?

DeMint: Oh, that's quite the opposite. We're seeing across the country right now, the biggest tent of all is freedom and what we need to do as Republicans is convince Americans that freedom can work in all areas of their life, for all Americans, whether it's education or health care or creating jobs...

Sanchez: What the hell does that mean? The biggest tent is freedom. FREEDOM, I mean, you gotta do better than that.

DeMint: No, what it means is what has worked in America, free people, free markets for years.

first teabags, then family feud...what are they gonna ruin for me next?!

crazy stuff went down on one of the most beloved, harmless standards in daytime television game shows!

earlier this week, a family was attempting to sweep the board in the category "what is ellen degeneres best known for." as they worked through the list, everything seemed to be going well. and then the host, john o'hurley, asked the only male on the team to answer the question, the man said "she's known to not care for our country."

o'hurley went silent, the audience went silent, even the crickets, who live for these moments, were too shocked to rub their legs together.

and somewhere in america, glenn beck spontaneously ejaculated into his pants.

What's WRONG with these People??

i recently told a friend of mine that i was so perplexed by the stylings of some conservative politicians, pundits, celebrities, and lunatics that i was going to start blogging about it whenever one of them did or said something cah-razy. and today's first post goes to, of course, our man about the crackerhouse: Glenn Beck!

during a recent show, Beck got so pissed when someone had the gall to criticize him, he did what any one of us would do in that situation: he held up a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr. beside his face and said this!

"I have a dream today. I have a dream that we can stop playing not just the blame the messenger game; I have a dream that we can stop playing the game of blame the messenger who's specifically saying the opposite message."

glenn, you're level of deepness is way to deep to even acknowledge. keep it crazy, homeslice.

Tea Baggers taking to the streets April 15th!!

i found this nice little gem earlier today on Crooks and Liars. i had no idea how much fun tea baggers are. there's an extra warm spot in my heart for the dude who, while talking about Obama, almost said "criminal record" rather than "college record."

*sigh*...he's so dreamy.

Stay Tuned for a Surprise Paternity Test for his Girlfriend From Middle School!!!

the other day i overheard a conversation about the controversial art installations The Assassination of Barack Obama and The Assassination of Hillary Clinton by artist Yazmany Arboleda. the conversation centered around the outrage that someone would create what was supposed to be a work of art around racist and sexist images and words, using images of Obama and his children. particular outrage was expressed at his usage of that rhesus monkey don imus' words "nappy-headed hoes" with a photo of Malia and Sasha.

when the controversy first ignited, i went to the websites and looked at the installations. what struck me about them was the fact that the artist did not create these words; he used words which have already appeared in various forms of media and juxtaposed them with photos of the Obamas and Clintons. the outrage felt by the photos of Malia and Sasha should match the outrage we should all have felt when imus referred to the Rutgers girls in that way: they are someone's daughters too. and when that attack came out of nowhere against them, i'm sure they felt vulnerable, frightened, disoriented, and hated. as one must feel in the midst of an assassination attempt.

in my opinion, the point of the works is to show us that these words, actions, and commodification have the intent of stealing something from their targets; diminishing them, making them less, in a cowardly attack which seems to come out of nowhere.

since President Obama took office, i have been wrestling with how his image and that of the first family has been treated by the media. i've grown tired of the dancing Obama skits, of impersonators dancing to "single ladies" on ET, stories about how he's dressed, backhanded comments regarding his middle name...but CNN this morning took it to a whole other level:

the front page of cnn.com reported...because this is very important news....

Obama's Half-Brother Arrested on Charge of Marijuana Possession

now, knowing what we know about President Obama and his kenyan family, why exactly is this news? cnn themselves report:

"In his memoir, 'Dreams from My Father,' Barack Obama describes meeting George as a 'painful affair.' Barack Obama's trip to Kenya meant meeting family he had never known.

"The two men share the same Kenyan father. In the memoir, Barack Obama struggles to reconcile with his father after he left him and his mother when he was just a child.

"Barack Obama Sr. died in a car accident when George was just 6 months old. Like his half brother, George hardly knew his father.

"George was his father's last child and had not been aware of his famous half brother until he rose to prominence in the Democratic primaries last year."

i believe the same possessiveness and protectiveness which the people discussing the art installations felt is the same which i feel right now. understanding what it's like being black in america makes you aware of certain realities. one of those realities is that in the minds of many, you are already indicted: from that point on, it's just a matter of finding the corroborating evidence of guilt.

it's why we get followed around in stores, pulled over by police more often, looked upon with suspicion on the streets, accused of assault because we had the poor form to defend ourselves and demand respect.

it makes me pretty angry to see this happening to this President and the subjective media not even having the self-awareness to avoid it. but i think it answers the question posed a few weeks back by the same news organization: is the election of Barack Obama the realization of Dr. King's dream?

nope. not even close.
